Powerlifting weight classes (IPF / KNKF)

Weight classes group lifters by bodyweight so totals can be compared fairly. Dutch competitions run under KNKF rules, which follow the international IPF weight classes. Records are kept per weight class, sex, division and equipment.

Men's weight classes

The IPF men’s classes are 59, 66, 74, 83, 93, 105, 120 and 120+ kg. A 53 kg class is added for sub-junior and junior lifters.

Your class is the lightest one your bodyweight at weigh-in does not exceed — a 81 kg lifter competes in the 83 kg class.

Women's weight classes

The IPF women’s classes are 47, 52, 57, 63, 69, 76, 84 and 84+ kg, with a 43 kg class for sub-junior and junior lifters.

The same weigh-in rule applies: a 60 kg lifter competes in the 63 kg class.

How classes relate to records

Every Dutch record on this site is held within one weight class, for one sex, division and equipment type (classic or equipped). That is why a single meet can set several records at once — one per lift and total in each bucket.
